PRODUCTION TIMELINE

All of our items, with the exception of those marked 'Ready to Ship,' are made to order and typically require a turnaround time of 4–6 weeks. Custom pieces may take approximately 5–8 weeks. For specific lead times or deadline requests, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Some of our engagement rings and wedding bands can be rushed for a small extra fee—just select the 'Rush' option on the product page. This speeds up production to about 2 weeks instead of the usual 4–6. If you have a specific deadline in mind, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]—we’re happy to help!

Yes! Our Ready to Ship collection includes preset engagement rings that are available for immediate shipping or in-store pickup. If you need the ring resized, just note that it will take us about an additional week to complete the adjustment.

SIZING

You can order our free ring sizer or download our size guide to measure at home. We recommend choosing a size that slides on easily but offers a bit of resistance when you take it off.

Most rings can be resized up or down by up to 2 sizes, with the exception of eternity bands and certain intricate designs. If you're purchasing an engagement ring or wedding band, we offer one complimentary resizing within this range. Additional resizings are $65 each.

Rings that can't be resized will need to be remanufactured, which involves an additional fee. Please note: if your ring is engraved, resizing may partially or fully remove the engraving.

We cover the shipping cost for your first resizing (within the U.S.). After that, two-way insured shipping is $70.

Resizing typically takes 1–2 weeks. However, during busy times—like December—there may be delays or we may temporarily pause resizing services. When sending your ring back for resizing, be sure to download and include a completed copy of our return form with your shipment.

We recommend having all work on your Vanscoy Diamonds ring done by us. Each jeweler has their own techniques and quality standards, and others may not be familiar with the specific details of our designs. Please note that any repairs or services performed by another jeweler will void the warranty on our engagement rings and wedding bands.

DIAMONDS, GEMSTONES & METALS

Precious stones each have unique properties. Diamonds, available in over 300 colors, are the rarest and most durable gemstone, known for their brilliance and ideal for everyday wear. Sapphires, our second most popular choice, also come in various colors and offer excellent durability.

We also offer lab-grown diamonds and sapphires, which are chemically and physically identical to mined stones—virtually indistinguishable without specialized equipment.

We carefully hand-select and inspect every diamond before setting it, ensuring each one meets our high standards.

For center stones, we recommend diamonds that offer the best balance of beauty and value. Brilliance is key—your diamond should sparkle and appear colorless and eye-clean. Our suggested grades range from E to H color and VS1 to SI1 clarity, depending on the shape and style. You’ll find our recommendations listed on each product page.

For accent diamonds, we only use the highest quality available, requiring excellent cut and VS clarity—unless a design specifically calls for salt and pepper diamonds or a custom request. Each accent stone is handpicked to match the center diamond.

Looking for something different? We’re happy to custom source a diamond that fits your preferences. Just email us at [email protected].

If you're unsure about what size diamond to select, consider choosing a size that represents the best that you can afford. Since we took the liberty of selecting diamonds at the best quality and value, we recommend opting for the largest size that fits within your budget.

While our website offers a select range of gemstones, including sapphires, morganites, and aquamarines, we have access to a much broader variety of stones and diamond alternatives. This includes, but isn’t limited to, black, brown, rustic, and rough diamonds, sapphires, tourmalines, emeralds, rubies, opals, and moissanites. For any gemstone sourcing requests, feel free to email us at [email protected]

All our designs are available in 14k and 18k white, yellow, and rose gold, as well as platinum. Some styles, like plain wedding bands that don’t require stone setting, are also available in sterling silver.

When choosing between these metals, key factors are budget, durability, and maintenance. Platinum is the most expensive, dense, and naturally white, requiring no additional maintenance, making it ideal for heirloom pieces. 18k white gold is more precious due to its higher gold content, while 14k is a more affordable option with a lower gold concentration. Both require rhodium plating for a white finish, which wears off over time and needs re-plating about every 18 months. Silver is the least expensive but is soft, prone to oxidation, and unsuitable for settings with stones due to its lack of durability.

ETHICS & THE ENVIRONMENT

Yes, all of our diamonds are Kimberley Process compliant, ensuring they are sourced responsibly and not from conflict zones.

The Kimberley Process, established in 2003, was created to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the global market. It ensures that diamond purchases do not fund violence or human rights violations, giving consumers peace of mind that their diamonds are ethically sourced.

Vanscoy Diamonds uses precious metals from renewed sources derivative from numerous post-consumer sources, including recycled jewelry, industrial products, and electronics components. Our precious metals are of identical quality to newly mined metals. By using recycled metals, our aim is to reduce the need for additional dirty mining of precious metals, such as open pit mining. For more information about recycled metal, please visit our partner Stuller.

Yes, Vanscoy Diamonds proudly offers beautiful lab-grown diamonds and engagement rings, available up to 20 carats and in a variety of shapes. All lab-grown diamonds are independently graded and certified.

CUSTOMIZATIONS

Yes, custom rings begin with an in-studio consultation (or by email/Skype/phone for out-of-state clients) to discuss your vision and specifications. Once we agree on the design, we'll provide a proposal and estimated cost. The design process is divided into three phases, with a non-refundable fee charged at each stage. Custom designs typically take 6-8 weeks, though this can vary depending on the complexity. For more details, read about the process here or contact us at [email protected].

We understand that custom engagement rings can be a significant investment, so we encourage clients to consider personalizing an existing Vanscoy design instead. Start by selecting a ring you love, then make it uniquely yours by adding an inscription, fingerprint, finish change, or accent birthstone. Share your story with us via email, and we’ll be happy to help you brainstorm ideas.

Yes! A laser inscription is a great way to personalize your ring. Some common inscriptions include special dates, nicknames or phrases that are meaningful to your relationship. An engraving will be an additional $40 and may take 3 additional days for delivery. Engraved items cannot be returned.

CENTER STONE

"Yes, we can work with your own stone, but you'll need to send it to us. Since each setting is custom-built around the center stone, we don’t sell blank semi-mounts without the stone in hand. If you’d like us to use your diamond or gemstone, please include proper documentation, such as a gemstone certificate or appraisal.

A handling fee applies based on the value of your stone: $150 for stones valued under $3,000, increasing by $150 for every additional $3,000 in value. For details on how to send in your stone, please contact us at [email protected].

Yes! We offer center stone upgrades for natural mined diamonds. You can exchange your original center diamond for a new one that is at least twice its value. The full original purchase price of your diamond will be applied as credit toward the upgrade.

To qualify, the original diamond must be returned in its original condition along with the original documentation. Please note: upgrades are not available for lab-grown diamonds, rustic diamonds (like salt & pepper), colored diamonds or gemstones, or for settings and jewelry.

If the new diamond doesn’t fit your original setting, you can trade in the old setting for scrap metal credit toward a new one. We'll provide a credit estimate based on current market value before recycling. Applicable taxes will apply.

DO YOU OFFER TEMPORARY SETTINGS?

Yes! If you’d like to propose with a diamond or gemstone but want your partner to help choose the final design, we offer a temporary setting option. You can purchase a center stone from us, and we’ll mount it in a classic solitaire setting of your choice—14k white, yellow, or rose gold—for an additional $650.00. This setting takes about 1 week to produce.

Within 60 days of purchase, you and your partner can return the temporary setting and select a permanent ring or begin a custom design. A $300 refurbishing fee will be deducted, and the remaining $350.00 will be applied as credit toward the new setting.

Please note: this service is only available for stones purchased through Vanscoy Diamonds.
