Diamond Engagement Rings Show Off A New Color

There is probably no style of fine jewelry more resistant to change than diamond engagement rings. The amount of tradition behind the practice of exchanging rings is so rich that many people hesitate to buy anything different. Although there are certainly hundreds of beautiful awe-inspiring designs of engagement rings available every year, most young brides to be have always pictured the same classic look of the rings that their mother and grandmothers wore before them. One of the most popular recent trends that lets people still retain that traditional look while indulging in something that will help set their wedding jewelry apart, is by using naturally colored diamonds in the jewelry, specifically pink diamonds, the color of love. Diamond Engagement RingsOver the years people have been skeptical about colored diamonds for obvious reasons. With so many of the self-appointed “taste makers” saying that the only diamond worth having is a clear diamond, people don't want to spend money on anything else. What’s the point of owning a diamond, they think, if people are just going to look down their noses at it? This unpopularity led many mines to use colored diamonds for purposes other than jewelry. When colored diamonds were first marketed in a creative way (chocolate, anyone?), there were less than honest jewelers who would artificially color the diamonds in order to make them appear more rare. This artificial coloring, at best, would reduce the natural sparkle and shine of the diamond, making it appear cloudy; naturally colored diamonds still have the same brilliance as their clear counterpart. Worst case scenario...the coloring would actually start to fade and chip from simple normal wear. These days, with a greater understanding of the different types of diamonds that are available and how unique and beautiful different colors can be, colored diamonds are finally enjoying the popularity they deserve. With the advent of custom design jewelry and the ability to create new cuts that make the diamonds shine more brilliantly, colored diamonds have quickly become very popular. Now young couples getting married can celebrate the beauty of their love by having pink diamond engagement rings, to show that their love is as eternal as the diamonds themselves, while still having wedding jewelry that looks like they have always imagined it would.
